long race or run I would forget what I was doing and start thinking about my working week, for example. But I feel like I’m let off the hook a bit now. Danny Dreyer, founder of Chi Running and Chi Walking says in the ‘Chi Walking’ book that your mind will always wander. The skill of focussing is a constant process of focusing and then refocusing. I think it seems right, and within the principles of mindfulness, to be kind to our selves and non judgemental when we loose mental concentration. So from now on, when I notice I have lost concentration on my running, I’m going to congratulate myself on noticing that it’s time to refocus my mind and body.
