Finding the balance

 

I love the idea that less is more. You do need to exercise but you need to snuggle in to the middle of the curve…. massive distances aren’t needed…I love the description of what he says (about 16mins 30 seconds in to the video) about stopping to do some yoga whilst on a walk or run. In Chi Running the running form is the most important thing to consider before speed or distance. Form comes first and foremost, speed and distance are far less important in your training programme, but they DO FOLLOW when you get the form right. So there is hope for us runners who do less than 20 miles a week! It might be that this is discredited in time, but it seems like undeniable fact in some places… who knows, maybe our thinking about running distances will change. After all, it’s only now that ‘veteran marathon runners’ with 20-30 years experience of running marathons can really be studied. I have a feeling that form then speed then distance is going to be a lot more popular as a philosophy if studies like this one turn out to become established thinking about running.
